Built Around Coastal Bend Freight

The Port of Corpus Christi is one of the country's leading energy-export ports, and the refineries along the Ship Channel, the Eagle Ford Shale and construction along I-37, US-77 and SH-44 keep local trucks busy. Each kind of work brings different limits, endorsements and carrier appetites.

Interstate for-hire carriers hauling general freight need at least $750,000 in liability under federal rules. Oil hauling requires $1,000,000, and certain hazardous materials require up to $5,000,000. Carriers running only inside Texas file proof of insurance with the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles.

Oilfield and terminal work usually comes with a master service agreement (MSA) or shipper contract that spells out limits, additional insureds and waivers of subrogation. We read those requirements with you and match the policy to them.

  • Primary Auto LiabilityThe limit your authority and contracts require, with FMCSA or TxDMV filings handled.
  • Motor Truck CargoLimits matched to your loads, commodities and broker requirements.
  • Physical DamageCollision and comprehensive for tractors, trailers and hotshot rigs.
  • General LiabilityOften required by MSAs and terminal contracts, with additional-insured endorsements.
  • Non-Trucking & Occupational AccidentFor leased-on owner-operators and drivers outside workers' comp.

Questions

Trucking Insurance FAQ

How much liability insurance does a trucking company need?

Interstate for-hire general freight needs at least $750,000 under federal rules. Oil hauling requires $1,000,000, and certain hazardous materials up to $5,000,000. Many shippers and MSAs require $1,000,000 or more regardless.

Can you meet the insurance requirements in my MSA?

Send us the insurance section of the agreement. We'll quote to those limits and endorsements, including additional insured and waiver of subrogation where a carrier will provide them.

Can you insure a new trucking authority?

Yes. New ventures have fewer carrier options and usually higher rates for the first years, so driver experience and clean records matter. We'll show you what's available.

How fast can I get a certificate of insurance?

Once a policy is in force, we can usually issue standard certificates the same business day. Certificates with special wording go through the carrier.

What do you need to quote my trucks?

DOT and MC numbers if you have them, vehicles and trailers (year, make, VIN, value), drivers with license numbers and experience, radius, commodities hauled, and prior insurance and loss history.
